Santa Craft using a CD

Today I’m sharing a super jolly craft! Yes, I couldn’t help but say that. I’m sharing a festive craft today as part of the Countdown2Xmas series. 24 days of crafts, recipes, and all around Christmas inspiration. For my part of Countdown2Xmas, we made a Santa craft using a CD. What better way to celebrate the holidays than make a festive craft of dear ol’ Santa!

We love recycled crafts. We’ve actually created a few other fun CD crafts, you might like. A Fish CD. We also recycled a CD and created a CD Turkey, perfect for Thanksgiving. So, you can tell we just love sharing fun recycled crafts, and of course Christmas is no different.

To make this adorable Santa, you’ll need just a few basic supplies, even a recycled CD. I know we all have old CD’s hidden away somewhere at home, this is the ideal way to create something fun for the holidays, while recycling too!

Here’s what you’ll need:

A CD or DVD

Glue

Red Construction Paper

2 Wiggly Eyes

Red Sharpie

Scissors

Cotton Balls

Hopefully these are all items you have on hand, or somewhere you can fetch quickly. I guarantee it’s so easy, that you’ll want to make two Santa CD’s. We had so much fun creating our jolly ol’ Santa that we made two of them. Plus, it’s a great way to recycle old CD’s or DVD’s, why not make more than one.

First start by cleaning off your CD with a cloth.

Next you can glue on your 2 wiggly eyes towards the top of your CD and draw a small red nose using your red sharpie. This way you have an idea where to build the beard, which happens to be our next step.

Grab some glue, dab cotton balls into the glue and apply to the CD, to build your beard. Think of building the beard in the shape of the letter U. Last you can add some cotton balls around the center of the CD where the open circle appears. This will give the appearance of Santa’s mouth expression, almost as if he’s saying “Ho, Ho, Ho!”

Now, you can grab some red construction and cut a shape of a hat to fit the top of Santa’s head.

Glue 1 cotton ball to the top of your Santa hat and apply to the back of your CD, popping out from the back. You can use tape for this part, if it’s easier for the kids to add the hat. Glue or tape work great to adhere your Santa hat. Set aside to dry for at least 20 minutes.

I hope you were inspired to create your very own Santa craft using a CD. It’s a whole lot of fun, and he’s just such a cute Santa, I’m sure the whole family will enjoying making yours this holiday. Once you’re done, he makes for the perfect ornament on your tree. He tucks nicely into the branches and looks just wonderful as an ornament. Or you could use him as a cute decoration. To make this a cool keepsake, just use a sharpie pen and write the date on the back with your child’s name.

    We have plenty of CDs we could use for this craft. Including Taylor Swift’s Red CD that my daughter tried to pry out of the CD player in the car. But I digress. A very cute and kid-friendly craft. Thanks for the idea.
