♥Goals for May♥
Well it’s already May 4th - I think I blinked an eye and April was gone. How about you? Do you feel like the days just fly by? Except when it’s 6am and you have to get out of bed, and really you’d rather just crawl back under the blankets and sleeeeeep. Otherwise I think it’s safe to say that the days fly by, next thing you know it’s a new month.
After reading a great post at And Babies Don’t Keep, I really got motivated to start some goal setting of my own. It helps to hear others out there striving to make and achieve new goals. Are you like me, where you might think of something you strive to change or do, but then a few days or weeks later you haven’t really stuck with it?
Join me in setting goals for the month of May. We can do it together!
♥ I’ll start by sharing my goals for May. ♥
♥ I am going to put my phone away
This is hard because my phone is aka my hand-held internet hub, aka a best-friend, aka an addiction to keep checking social media, texts, photos, you name it! I’ve gotten in the habit of looking at my phone a little too much in the evenings! Especially around dinner time to bedtime. It reflects in my presence with my kids. Honestly, my kids are growing up and I don’t want to miss a moment, so the phone needs to be away and out of site in the evenings. This way I can focus on settling down for the night with my kids. Uninterrupted quality time with my family pays for itself. So if you call and get no answer this month, you’ll now know why! So far on day 4 of May I’m doing GREAT with this Goal!.
Next month I will follow up with how things go.
♥ Make a Date Night with Hubby
Do you need to make time for a date night too? Join me in making this a goal! So we recently lost our babysitter, well in the sense that she is no longer working for our family. We had only used her a few times to watch the kids but she was a reliable gal, and suddenly we lost contact with her. It’s been at least 6 months since my husband and I went out on a “date night” for dinner and drinks. Again, the time seems to fly by and I haven’t made time to plan a date night. My goal for May, find a new and reliable babysitter, so my hubby and I can go out on the town and be adults for a few hours, no kids, no interruptions, just quality time being a married couple. After being married for 9 years, this goal is especially important for me!
Keeping our relationship strong with an occasional date.
♥ Stop Helicoptering my Kids as Much
Okay, I’ll admit it… I can sometimes, or maybe all the time, be overly cautious aka helicoptering to my children. This is not because I don’t trust my kids, it’s because I figure if I don’t watch them, who will? But, my kids have both reached an age where I know they need a little more independence. They are certainly capable of so much, so why not give them some more responsibility, while also helping them gain more self-confidence! Baby steps, baby steps on this one, but letting the kids have that extra independence is helpful for us all. So far, I’ve actually had a few parents see the positive changes I’ve made and tell me about it. (yes, I’m getting there, yeah!!!)
After hearing my goals for May has it sparked an idea or two in your mind of goals you want this month?
♥Join me in making goals together, we can do it! By setting goals it helps us all be more positive, productive people, and overall happy! What are yours going to be? ♥
♥ Check back in with me as you set your goals, hit challenges, or exceed your own expectations. I’d love to hear all about this month’s goals!♥

Love your goals AND your little graphic! Hope your date night is awesome (way to make that a priority!)

I have to say Thank You to you Kristi! You really motivated this post for May. I love your site and so happy to have found you, to follow each other. I know we are only 4 days in, but how are you goals coming along so far?
I need to make goals for next month, I was unprepared for this month haha. I need to put my phone away too. I also need to finish my last class, I’ve got a month 1/2 to finish 22 Chapters, no biggie right. I hope you have a great Sunday!

I love your motivation Leslie! You’ll get to those 22 chapters, you can do it!
Let me know what goals you make next month, I’d love to hear how it goes. Enjoy the rest of your weekend too!
Those are great goals! Have you read The Hands Free Revolution? I started it last month and it’s so good and encouraging. Little steps. Have a great Sunday!

I’m also on the hunt for a reliable, responsible sitter! There has to be a few out there, right?!
Thanks Jessica for stopping by. I know there has got to be a good reliable sitter out there right?! Sittercity.com is a good site if you still have trouble. We found our last few babysitters through their site. Good luck to you guys too!
Hi Heidi, I haven’t read the Hands Free Revolution, I’ll definitely check it out, thanks for suggesting it! I hope your weekend has been a great one too, thanks for stopping by
Your goals are so great! I have a few babysitters in the area that I would love to share their numbers with you! My big goal for myself is to take a little more time for myself before the end of school year and summer comes! Last month I was extremely busy with everyone else and the summer is our busy time, so bring on May and a bit more “Amie” time!
Amie, I love your goal for the month of May! You do so much, so it’ll be nice for you to have some “Amie” time before the busy summer starts. Keep me posted this month how it goes + what you end up doing with your own quiet time!
Those are some great goals!! I need to put my phone down more as well!

Hi Kaitlyn, So glad I shared my goals with you guys because putting down the phone more often is honestly tough to do. If you try putting your phone down more often, let me know how it goes. I’ve been trying this month, and it does feel good to go “tech” free, lol. Even if it’s just for a little while
Just accomplished one goal for May, I got the baby to sleep for longer than 2 hour stretches. that was pretty much my only goal as I have been zombie mom, but now it is time to start some other goals for sure. Keep us updated on your progress, the phone one might be kind of hard for me….

Jen, your goal is AWESOME! I’m sooo happy for you! I know how hard that can be! You must be thrilled? I hope the rest of the month just keeps getting better. It’s always great to hear when others have reached a goal, love this!
Love this idea! I use to be good at writing goals and accomplishing them with in a decent time frame….that was before kids. I’ve already been working on my goals for June, but I have to remember to include my family and not just create goals for my business. I’ll be back to post. Thanks for posting this…nothing helps to push you more when you have someone to hold you accountable.
Thanks Carmel, I hope you stop by in early June for the June Goals I post. I’d love for you to share your goals for next month with me. I agree, it totally helps to have accountability and encouragement to reach your goals. Looking forward to hearing about how it goes.
